CAHO's work is accomplished through input of members of various committees and

Our members are often sought for their in-depth expertise and advice on current
and emerging issues. Given system transformation was at the forefront of the
political agenda, our members accepted leading roles in numerous committees
with the JPPC, OHA, MOHLTC and with other major stakeholder groups related to
Accountability Agreements, Waitlist Management and System Integration and
Transformation. CAHO has also teamed up with Council of Ontario Research
Directors (CORD) to collaborate on joint issues and strategies.

CAHO Council
The Council is predominantly composed of Chief Executive Officers from the 25 member hospitals.
The mission of the CAHO Council is to review the role and the mandate of the Academic Hospitals in the provision of health care, in the education of new health care professionals and in providing an attractive research environment for investment in research and the early adoption of research that will provide an economic advantage to the province.
The Council provides strategic oversight to all CAHO Committees and Task Forces, and works directly with the government to improve the health care system.

Chief Operating Officers (COO) Committee
The CAHO Chief Operating Officers address policy-related issues by articulating the system implications of changes in legislation and health care policies/practices. Main areas of focus include Local Health Integration Networks, provincial/priority programs and waitlist strategies.

Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Committee
The CFO Committee works proactively to identify trends, review the fiscal implication of changes in legislation or health care policies and practices, and make appropriate recommendations to the CAHO Council. The CFO Committee works closely with Chief Operating Officers of CAHO hospitals. Among the financial issues discussed by the CFO Committee are the hospital planning processes and accountability agreements.
